Program Length: 180 Hours
Program Objective:
The mission of the Nails Specialty program is to prepare students for employment as a Licensed Nail Specialist. Instruction is designed to qualify students for employment upon successfully obtaining a Nails Specialist License.
The content includes, but is not limited to communication, leadership, human relations and employability skills; safe and efficient work practices; Florida cosmetology law and rules. This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the cosmetology industry; planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying technological principles, labor, community, health, safety, and environmental issues.
Instruction and learning activities are provided in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences with chemicals, implements, and equipment appropriate to the programs’ content and in accordance with safety and sanitation practices in the trade.
The program includes:
- Acquisition of knowledge of the nails specialist as it relates to nail and skin structure and growth
- Bacteriology
- Infection Control: Principal and Practices
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Art of Make-up
- Development of skill in performing manipulative and electrical techniques required in the practice of the nails specialist occupations
- Skills Taught includes Spa Manicure and Pedicure, Acrylic Extension, Gel Extension and Nail Art
16 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in any K-12 program

The average wage for this career in Florida is $16.66 hourly or $34,660 annually.
In-state residents – $2.56 per hour (Subject to change)
Out of state resident – $10.25 per hour (Subject to change)
$20.00 application fee per trimester
Material fee – $34.00
Identification fee – $5.00 per trimester
Liability insurance fee – $10.50
Students must purchase books/kits and/or uniforms, if applicable
